About regions and geo filtering
We provide wheel data worldwide.
We were often faced with a situation when our customers asked us if it was possible to display data relevant only for those car brands that are sold in their specific country or in their specific region.
Unfortunately, this was not possible. We used the term “market”. A market is a region where a car was officially sold or is currently being sold.
In our case, however, the term “market” was used for a region where the wheel data for the same car could be different. Accordingly, we were creating individual records only for such car brands, whose wheel data could be different from region to region.
Example: if Tesla is officially sold in Europe through a dealer network, then we did not create dedicated markets for it, because the wheel data for Tesla in America and Europe will be the same.
The opposite example: Toyota Corolla in America, Europe and Russia has different wheel characteristics – therefore, in this case, we created individual records for this car relevant for each region.
In API version 2, we use the concept of a region. In fact, it partially inherits the market, but now it is the “real” market. The term “region” means a region in which the vehicle was officially sold or is currently being sold. We do check the data for each car model / vehicle modification for sale in each specific country / region.
And now, through the API, you can use filters to display only those cars / models / modifications that you need. More importantly, you can select multiple regions when filtering if you need it. For example, if your key market is Canada, it would make sense to add the US market when setting the filters.
